A full course of 8 -12 treatments will result in a permanent reduction of hair growth; however, this is dependent upon individual skin tone and hair. An annual top up of sessions is recommended for maintenance to keep skin smooth and hair free.

What to expect

The IPL pulses light energy which is absorbed by the melanin or pigment in the hair and reaches into the active hair follicles that lie beneath the skin.  The energy heats the hair, right down to the bottom of the root, safely destroying it without damaging surrounding tissue or skin.  Most people will need a course of between 8 and 12 treatments after which time the hair will appear visibly reduced and skin will be smooth and even. The skin may appear red immediately after the treatment will apply a cooling aloe vera gel.  Any redness will soon go down and you will begin to notice the results almost immediately after your first session.

Q: Do I need to prepare the skin before the treatment?

You may be asked to shave the area to be treated before you visit as this helps the light energy penetrate the hair follicle more effectively.

Q: What areas are suitable for IPL treatment?

Our IPL treatment can be used to eliminate hair growth almost anywhere on the body, including the face, arms, armpits, shoulders, bikini line, stomach and legs.  The only area that can’t be treated is around the eyes for safety reasons.
